The Last of the Blacksmiths is a novel of historical fiction about a 19th century German blacksmith who pursues the American dream. To research the novel, author Claire Gebben embarked on a journey that included four days of intensive blacksmithing and a month-long stay in the German Rhineland. In her powerpoint presentation, she’ll share discoveries, adventures, and genealogy tips she learned while writing the book.
